Some days, I really want to sit and write until my fingers fall off. Sadly, most days, I don't have a clue what to write.
My dear friend and author, Nina, and I were discussing this last night. She's an amazing poet and is due to have her next 3 poems published in the near future. (you can checkout her premiere piece in Cogs in Time) We're both currently working on short stories and we've been discussing the lack of inspiration. We came up with a process that I think will really help us each. We're going to send each other writing prompts once a week. Then, we'll have a week to write and post on our blogs. Hopefully, everyone will enjoy what comes from this process.

Dreams
Ever had a dream that you were already an author? Published, widely read, JK Rowling popular? I had a dream like that the other night. It was equal parts really fun and frustrating because I enjoyed the things I was doing, (signings, attending Comi-Con, talking with fans...) but I couldn't grasp just WHAT I was famous for writing. I was hoping that it might give me a direction, a way to figure out just what it is my soul is telling me I need to write.
Mostly though, it was fun. It showed me that I really do enjoy this maddening labor of love. I'm a word lover, a fondler of syllables, an insatiable gourmand of morphemes and neologisms. I long for my own full copy of the Oxford English Dictionary...all 20+ volumes. Words are amazing things and I adore them.

The Writing Life
It has been so long since I've felt like writing that I'm not sure just how or what to do anymore. A friend suggested that I start a blog for my writing and thoughts about it so, here it is.
